Lightweight Electric Wheelchairs

"Lightweight" is the most abused word in the wheelchair industry β€” so here are numbers instead. Our aluminium 6000 series is built for the people who lift: the spouse who loads the chair into a sedan, the caregiver who carries it up three steps, the traveler who checks it at an airline counter alone.

How Light Is Lightweight?

A standard steel power chair weighs 35–50 kg. Our aluminium folding models bring the complete chair β€” frame, motors, battery, seat β€” down to a range that one adult can lift into a car trunk. The removable batteries weigh under 2 kg each on most models, so the heaviest single part you ever handle is the folded frame.

The honest trade-off: lighter chairs carry lighter users and less cargo. If the user weighs over 120 kg or the chair must climb steep ramps daily, a heavier carbon-steel model with bigger motors will serve better. Ask us β€” we make both.

Aluminium vs Carbon Fiber vs Steel

Aluminium alloy hits the sweet spot: roughly 40% lighter than steel, rust-free, and far less expensive than carbon fiber. Dents can be repaired by any bike shop with frame tools.

Carbon fiber (our 7000 series) saves another 20–30% on the frame and looks superb, at a higher price and with stricter repair options.

Carbon steel (5000 series) remains unbeatable for strength-per-dollar and heavy users.

For most families, aluminium is the correct answer β€” which is why the 6000 series is our best-selling export line.

Choosing Battery and Range Honestly

Lightweight chairs pair with smaller batteries: expect 10–20Ah, giving 10–25 km of real-world range depending on terrain, user weight and temperature. That covers a week of neighborhood use on one charge for most users. All battery options are sealed, maintenance-free and accepted by airlines. Range claims you see elsewhere above 40 km on this class of chair usually assume a 50 kg test rider on flat ground β€” treat them accordingly.

Who Benefits Most

Users who still transfer independently or with one assistant; families whose only vehicle is a sedan; seniors who travel by air or high-speed rail; and anyone whose previous chair was simply abandoned because it was too heavy to take anywhere. Dealers: this category moves fastest in D2C channels β€” ask about OEM branding and container pricing.
